Default Hitch adjustments

So if you had to drop the head of your hitch say 2-1/2" but do not have your TT handy (parked at a campground for another week), would you remove a washer from the head at the same time?

Dropping the head will increase the angle between the loose bars and the trailer frame which will increase tension but tilting the trailer will also shift a little more weight onto the ball so a little more tension may be warranted. Front fender sits 1/4" higher hitched with bars attached than unhitched.

Right now the TT sits nose high when hitched, looks like about 1/8" per foot (end of my level is 1/4" up to be level, 2 foot level).

700 mile trip in 2 weeks, camper comes home in a week...

I am happy with the weight distribution the way it sits, just not happy with the tilt.

What percent of tongue weight is no on the rear axle of the tow vehicle? Your goal is 50% to 60%. Get that right before you mess with the angle of the head to the trailer tongue. You change the percent of tongue weight on the rear axle by tightening or loosening the tension on the spring bars.

After you know the setting for the proper tension on the spring bars, then you can mess with the angle of the head.

What is the percent of tongue weight distributed back to the trailer axles? Your goal is 20 to 25%. If your actual percent is more or less than the goal, then change the angle of the head until you meet the goal.

After you meet the goal for percent of tongue weight on the rear axle and trailer axles, then your percent of tongue weight on the front axle of the tow vehicle should also be 20% to 25% with no further adjustment needed.

After you know your wet and loaded tongue weight, then to do it right may require several passes over the CAT scale. Then you'll be proud of yourself knowing you have your WD hitch dialed in.
