Default Update.

Another good thing about the Propride.........I always leave the receiver part of my hitch on my truck, thinking, if someone hits me, there may be less damage to my truck as it's so stout......Well it payed off. I had my truck in a local speed shop today installing the Firestone bags. Well, the kid backing my truck out, hit and almost ripped the front off a Yenko Camero. Man, I felt so bad for the shop owner and I'm sure the kid is looking for a job...But, no damage at all to my truck.

I hope the OP bought it! That was a steal on a ProPride hitch.

We towed our 28' Airstream with a Blue Ox BW1000 for the first 8 months or so we owned it with a '13 F150 crew 2wd 5.0. Towed OK, but semi and box truck "bow wave" would often make the rear of the Airstream "wiggle" a little and I had to steer away from the truck passing and then into it to compensate on the interstate. But, given the Airstream's excellent towing manners, it was livable.

Then I got a chance to pickup a used PP for about the same as the OP mentioned, and man what a difference. I agree with an earlier poster that these PPP hitches do create a "cult-like" following, and no you can't increase the GVWR or the payload of an F150 with one, but with the proper hitch setup, a properly spec'd F150, and an appropriate trailer (don't get me started on some I see claiming 1/2 ton towable), it is truly an enjoyable towing experience. Rock solid, like the truck and trailer are welded together.

Recently upgraded trucks to a '15 F150 crew 4x4 Longbed MaxTow and now it's even better! 5.0 was good, but the tweaked EB 3.5 for '15 has amazing grunt, and the stiifer tires and longer wheelbase are even more stable.

Yes, I did buy it and do love it. What are you running for tires? I need to upgrade, I'm still using P-rated tires.

Thanks

Nitzo-

Our '15 crew LB MaxTow 4x4 came with Goodyear Wrangler Fortitude HT 275/65R18, with a 116 load index and "T" speed rating. While certainly not an aggressive on/off road tire, I like them so far. They don't say "P Metric" but they aren't "LT" either. They have a load capability of 2756 lbs @ 51 psi max pressure, so a pair is rated to carry 5512 lbs, and the truck's front axle will only carry 3525 lbs and the rear 3800 lbs.

With only a couple of short tows with the new mule, I know these tires are less squishy than the Michelin's on the '13 2wd crew we had. I'm running these tires on the '15 @ 45-47 psi all the time, and so far so good. I ran the Michelins @ 44 which was max, and at that they were only rated for 1030 lbs of weight. Not what I consider a truck tire. Had we kept the '13 any longer I would have been hunting new shoes.

As you shop tires, make sure they'll take your weight..........Hope this helps.
