I'm going to measure the current draw of the stop light function of the marker and double the amperage of the blocking diodes. (IE if it pulls .5a use 1a diodes) It should function as follows:
connect both left & right stop light/turn signal together at the marker. Insert blocking diodes in both leads so the right doesn't affect left and vice versa. If successful, the following should occur:
1) under normal braking (no turn signals) left stop, right stop & center marker would light
2) Left turn with or without braking left turn and center marker would flash
3) Right turn with or without braking right turn and center marker would flash

This would be cheaper than the kit that you mentioned, use less parts and maintain trailer wiring integrity enabling it to connector to any standard 7 pin RV connector. I don't want to modify the 7 pin connector under any circumstances. As a last resort, if this doesn't work, just use the center marker as a tail lite as you mentioned.

I figured that you would respond as you seem to be the wiring guru. As always, thanks for your help and look forward to seeing you at SEMA 2014. BTW, when we head back to VA I'll be pulling the trailer with wife's blown 97' Mustang GT drop top (convertible) with less than 20k miles.(granny's grocery getter)

How far are you from ALB? We usually overnite there. I'll PM 'ya a couple of weeks before we leave.
Yes that should work as long as you don't mind the center marker flashing with the turn signals. Using the diodes, the only time the center marker would flash would be when using a turn signal without pressing the brake.

I'm also looking forward to SEMA '14! We had a blast at SEMA '13. This year I'm hoping to take my dad. Hopefully he can work it into his schedule. He's sort of a work-a-haulic.

I'm about 85 miles outside of ABQ but we go there all the time. Definitely PM me when y'all are coming through!

this is what i was trying to explain...no need for diodes/brakes...etc..more expense/connections..

it shows a 4way and 7way above. just the electric brake and aux and battery/power terminals extra....

You can build a circuit like this that'll work. Just be sure the diodes are sized to handle the amps that the lights draw.

ok here's the deal! I went Fry's (local electronics chain) & bought a 5 pack of diodes 10A @ 200v for $4.44. I temporarily soldered in & checked the results. Worked just as I thought and described above. I didn't like the looks of the marker blinking when either turn signal was on so rewired like Steve described above except wiring is routed down left side of trailer, so I wired center marker to left tail. All works fine! end of this chapter.

I just want to shout out thanks to everyone who helped on this project. Hope return the favor soon.
