Thanks everyone for your input. We have moved on from that camper and we are now looking at a smaller lighter camper, but not much. I'm almost ready to pull the trigger on a TT with a 715 tongue hitch.
I have the max tow 157 length truck with a cargo limit of 1780.
We will only be going a few hours max.

This is my experience. A tonneau cover, a spray in bed liner, a fire extinguisher, two adults with dirt bike riding gear, several fuel cans and a toolbox = 707 lbs. in the truck. If that's close to your case, you have 1073 lbs. left for the trailer. What are you going to load in the truck? Four people and a generator could easily be over 1000 lbs. Then you would have 780 lbs. left for the trailer tongue. I don't ever recall a loaded camper with a hitch weight that wasn't more than what was on the spec sheet. It could be close. You might make it and be just at the limit.
You could load the truck and take to the scales.

I just bought a 2014 super cab with the 5.0 v8 and a 3.55 rear end and the tow package....Its been interesting trying to find out the max towing capacity. I asked the dealer and even the service manager, my confusion(and theirs) was that the chart Ford puts out says my truck set up as bought will tow a trailer up to 7,800 lbs, but there is a footnote that says in order to do so you need a weight distributing hitch. They called the local Ford engineer for clarification...his bottom line? The truck will tow anything.....up to that 7800...the trailer decides how safe it will be

Whoa people settle down. That's why I'm in here, this is why we are talking to rv dealerships. Try to find the right camper for my truck and family. The one we are looking at is 5600# dry 7500 wet. I don't want to be over loaded or put anyone at risk, just trying to figure numbers out.
