The factory tow mirrors are awesome but it is a slight pain when entering and exiting my garage.

No doubt in my mind. I have never owned a pair of strap-on mirrors that were worth darn, and I've owned several different ones over the years. My 1999.5 F-250 had the factory tow mirrors, and I'll never tow a trailer that's taller than the top of the tailgate or wider than the bed of the pickup again without something very similar. I didn't want the 3.73 axle ratio that was required to get the max tow pkg on my 2012, and the max tow pkg was the only way to get tow mirrors installed at the factory. So I ordered the truck without the max tow pkg, but as soon as it arrived I replaced the Lariat memory and power fold little mirrors with the non-memory and non-power fold Ford tow mirrors from the XLT trim. I ordered the tow mirrors from the 2012 F-150 accessories catalog, which included one version for my Lariat with memory and chrome caps ,and another version for an XLT that included power and heated glass, turn signals and puddle lights, but black caps and no memory. The memory mirrors cost a lot more than ones without memory, so I ordered the less-expensive ones. They are a plug and play replacement. The photos show them telescoped out for towing, but it's very easy to push them back in for use when the trailer is not tied on.

Here is the link to the memory tow mirrors:

And here is the link to the ones I think ordered:

$400 list price for the two mirrors, but my dealer charged me dealer cost of $280 because I bought the truck from him.

Tousley Ford Parts says they will sell all OEM parts for 10% over dealer cost, so on that part number they do just that:

Here's the price for the fancier tow mirrors with memory:

If you have a 2013 with memory and power fold, the tow mirrors are not yet in the accessories catalog. You'll have to order them from parts, and they will cost you an arm and a leg and your firstborn son. They are also power telescope, but your truck may not have the wiring for the power telescope to work without doing some electrical wiring.
If you go to e-bay and look for Tasca they are a ford dealer here in the north east the are selling the tow mirrors that have power, heat, puddle and no memory for $$301.02 with free shipping they are OEM mirrors.I have been looking at these and can't decide if I want them or the cheap slide on ones.

If you watch the classifieds here you can find som good deals. I got chrome heated courtesy light equipped tow mirrors for 250

Sold my stockers for 200. They were black, power, heated, auto dim.

I have $50 in my factory tow mirrors.

You can also find members who want to trade but that's a bit more difficult. I had two such deals fall through.

Simple solution park the truck in the driveway and fill the garage with other toys. .

The F-150's aren't made from salt, they won't dissolve in the rain...

HA!.

Yes. Well, sort of. The key is two screws way down in the bottom of the door-pull pocket. Remove the plastic cover in the bottom of the pocket and you will see the two screw heads. The other screws that attach the door panel to the door are obvious. When you have the door panel loose, you don't need to disconnect the wiring in the door panel. Then just move the door panel enough so you can get to the three nuts in the mirror mount. Disconnect the electric plug from the mirror. Remove those nuts and then with a bit of jiggling the mirror will come out of the door. The tow mirror for a 2009-up F-150 plugs into the same holes, and the wiring harness is plug & play.

How to videos or instructions for 2008 and older F-150s won't work on a 2009-up F-150. Here is a narrative that explains how to remove the door panel on a 2009+ F-150.

No need to completely remove the door panel. Just get it loose enough to move it a few inches - far enough to access the three nuts and the mirror wiring harness.
