Heavy Duty Payload Package
#11
Just took delivery of mine the other day, I don't notice a difference compared to the others I test drove. Maybe a slightly stiffer rear end over some of the bumps. The obvious biggest change is the jump in the GVWR over the normal ones. Can't verify MPG, but I'm guessing 1 mpg loss over the 3.55 based on the short drives I did with other dealer vehicles. According to the ford spec sheets I found in researching them the the frame thickness increases 10%, along with everything else noted above.
Should be hooking up the trailer to it next week sometime so we'll see the difference in rear squat compared to the lariat they let me borrow.

Correct. No problem with 2014 and earlier, when the HDPP included weird 7-lug wheels. Ford included HDPP in the order guide but didn't produce any from the first aluminum-body 2015 until very late in the 2016 model year. No problem with 2017 other than having to order it and wait 6 weeks to two months while Ford builds and delivers it to your dealer.
Are the tires LT C range or LT E range?
With XL trim, they are 17" load range E. 18" tires that are included with the 2017 HDPP on XLT and Lariat trim are light truck (LT) load range C, not the P-series tires on the other F-150s. Those 18" tires are mounted on heavier-duty wheels than ordinary F-150s, but the wheels are now normal 6-lug wheels instead of those weird 7-lug jobbies, so replacement wheels are available without having to settle on the very limited selection of 7-lug wheels.
As to trim levels available, the luxury trim levels are not available with HDPP. So no King Ranch, Platinum nor Limited trim, and not even the fancier trim on a Lariat. You can have
XL
XLT base 300A or mid 301A (but not luxury 302A)
Lariat base 500A (but not fancier 501A or 502A).

That's a little lower than I was expecting. I figured about 2,400.
2250 is only 430 lbs more than my 2012 Max Tow Supercab FX4 loaded to Lariat equipment content.
I guess full four door eats up some of it . . . .

It's a little lower than I hoped but about what I figured (22-2400) based on looking at other non hdpp lariats and those on this site. I figure 100 lbs for steps, another 80 on bedliner, then the tailgate and bed steps. Would put in the low end of my range. Still meets my needs and then some.
PS- for the OP there is a nearly identical '16 lariat without the FX4 and accessories in Utah if your looking for one. I can dig up the VIN if needed.

We picked up a 2016 HDPP XLT SuperCrew in July of last year. Payload sticker is 2434.

all those "luxury items" do add up. My 301A XLT is pretty far from luxurious compared to the Lariat+s but coming from my '03 XL that didn't even have a CD player it is a big step up. I'm happy with my 2112# PL but I still miss my manual tranny everyday.
