this isn't in stone, I stand to be corrected.
I suspect you're right. The 8.8" diff cover is almost round with 10 bolt holes. The 9.75' and 10.5" diff covers are odd-shaped with 12 bolts. My 2012 EcoBoost 4x2 with 3.15 ratio e-locker has the odd-shaped diff cover with 12 bolts, so I suspect it is a 9.75".

With the e-locker axle, you get max tow, with 500 pounds increase in GVWR, but no HD Payload. With the limited slip, you get both max tow and HD Payload packages, with 1,000 pounds increase in GVWR.
Thank you. I take it this applies only to certain F150 models? With the King Ranch configuration there is only a choice of 3.31 regular and locker, 3.55 regular and locker and 3.73 locker(no limited slip). Regardless of which I choose, the indicated payload does not change.

Although there is a max tow package available, I prefer the Off-Road Package so that means the 3.55 locker. So if I can trust the configurator, I start with a max. payload of 1560# (ecoBoost engine) and work my way down depending on the weight of factory options I choose.

Or would forgoing the Off-Road package and choosing Max. Tow (hence 3.73 locker) result in a 500# increase in GVWR?? That might be worth it.

Yes. The Ford.com website doesn't show it, but when you chose 3.73 e-locker axle, the max tow pkg is automatically added, and the max tow pkg includes 500 pounds increase in GVWR to 7700. Off road pkg is available for 4x4s, but if you click on it you lose the max tow pkg and you're back to the stock 4x4 GVWR of 7200.

Another reason for choosing the max tow pkg is that's the only way to get the telescoping trailer tow mirrors from the factory.

Ah that is very good to know. The confusing thing about the on-line configurator is that the indicated payload doesn't change a bit when I choose between 3.73 and 3.55 lockers (while towing capacity actually does). But if Max. Tow package increases GVWR by 500# then it is an option I will have to choose. I can add the LT tires later no problem but selecting skid plates means I have to choose the Off-Road pkg and that means no Max. Tow and that means I lose 500# of payload. I assume it is possible to source skid plates aftermarket.

The mirrors being included are a nice bonus - though they are also available as a pricey factory option with the Off-Road package. Thanks again.

Pretty sure in Canada, the tow mirrors are an OPTION, and are NOT included in the Max Tow Package.
By "pretty sure" I mean I was kinda pissed when mine came without them and I found out after the fact.

Given that Off-Road has 3.55 lockers and Max Tow requires 3.73 lockers, isn't that technically impossible? Though I did notice when configuring a Lariat model, it is possible to choose both.

The Order Guide indicates you can get both on the King Ranch. But the Build&Price won't allow both with 6.5' bed.

HOWEVER, just messing around, I tried it with the city girls' King Ranch with 5.5' bed - and it allows both max tow and off-road pkgs.

So, Derodeo, if you want both max tow and off-road packages on your King Ranch, then choose EcoBoost engine, 3.73 e-locker, 4x4, AND the shorty bed. I guess Ford figures you shouldn't be going out onto the Jeep trails with a 6.5' bed on a SuperCrew.

I surprised me when my dealer told me that 90% of all SuperCrews have the shorty bed. He didn't have any in stock with the 6.5' bed. To me, real pickups have 8' beds, 6.5 is for folks that don't really need a pickup, and 5.5 is for city girls.

On edit: I guess I need to learn to read. The Order Guide says the Off-Road Pkg is not available with 3.7 or 6.3L engines, HD Payload pkg, or 163" wheelbase. And of course the 163" wheelbase just happens to be a SuperCrew with 6.5' bed.

see RED above;
SCrew w/6.5' bed = 157" wheelbase
SCab w/8' bed = 163" wheelbase
