CoverDog, glad you're getting yours so soon. I ordered mine Jan. 12 and mine is set to be here on March 23. Way too long if you ask me. I've never had a truck take so long to get made.

No, it has to come from the factory that way. Wheels, axles, hubs, tires, and suspension are all different from ordinary F-150s. I suppose a dealer could replace all those parts with the HD parts, but it would cost you an arm and a leg and your firstborn son, and when you got done the GVWR sticker would still read 7,200 pounds.

Suck it up and order the truck you want, just exactly the way you want it. I've done that several times, including my 2012 EcoBoost. The 6 or 7 weeks wait won't seem so long two years from now when you'll still be glad you ordered exactly the truck you wanted.

Mine is not here yet but scheduled to be built on Monday. Dealer said it should be here about April 1st.

Quickest I ever had was a 1983 4x4 F150. From order until the day it rolled off the carrier was 10 days. I know it was ordered because it was A plan and my name was on the window sticker.

A-Plan means you were a Ford employee. Thirty years ago Ford was taking care of their employees that wanted to buy a new Ford.

Does the Max. Trailer Tow package require 3.73 gears? I guess that would be logical but I'm just looking for the modest 300# or so payload increase that comes with that package, don't really need additional towing capacity.

Of the last 3 trucks I've ordered through the years, the longest it has taken has been 4 weeks and that was with the '97 I had. I figured it would take longer because the body style change that year. I guess the economy has slowed things down quite a bit or there are a lot of people ordering these trucks this way.

Yes, max tow requires 3.73 e-locker or 3.73 limited slip axle ratio.

With the e-locker axle, you get max tow, with 500 pounds increase in GVWR, but no HD Payload. With the limited slip, you get both max tow and HD Payload packages, with 1,000 pounds increase in GVWR.

Yes, 3.73 is part of the package.

that thread is regarding a 2004-2008, from what I understand Ford no longer offers the 10.5" in the rear of the 1/2 ton trucks. That was limited to a few years, if it was an option I would have been all over it when I ordered my 2013.

the HD Payload upgrades are to the 9.75, same axle we all get, just a few key parts "improved" upon.

this isn't in stone, I stand to be corrected.
