Default HD Payload and Max Tow Only on Lariat?

I am sorry if this topic has been beat to death. I did search and I have found bits a pieces of the info im looking for.

I am getting ready to order a new truck. I WAS planning to get:

fx4
ecoboost
4x4
3.73 gears
super crew
5.5' bed
max tow package

But as I was reading a few posts on here this morning I saw in order to get max payload you need 3.73 gears with OUT e-locker. And the only way I can get a new f150 to configure that was is with a lariat and a 6.5' bed?

Am I missing something? Can I not get an fx4 and get max payload package?

I dont NEED an fx4 but thats the model I like the best looks wise, I like painted bumpers vs the chrome. Ive got a 2012 xlt right now with chrome package and I prefer to have paint vs chrome.

I will get a lariat if thats the only way I can get it...Im sure I need it seeing ive got a 35' tt??

Thanks in advance.

I have the FX4 with max tow so it is available.. I will also suggest to get the 6.5' bed with the 157" wheelbase if your towing a 35' trailer. The longer wheelbase will help a lot with the stability when towing and help prevent trailer sway.

I realize the max tow is available for the fx4, but you cannot get max payload and max tow with the fx4

doesnt one of these packages require the 7 lug wheels. if so then that is why you cant get FX4.

You sir are correct. Lariat is going to be the way to go for ya. Or go with the max tow and throw some airbags on the FX4 would be my vote.

I don't mind the lariat, but I would prefer the fx4 looks wise. But if it means itll be easier to tow I have no problem going with the lariat.

Im just confused why they would only put the max payload on the lariat?

It's a bean counter thing I'd assume. I do a lot of saying "I don't build them, I just sell them" What are you hauling on a regular basis in the box of your pickup that makes the HD payload package a must have? I have numerous buddies hauling sleds and wheelers and 10K bumper pull trailers without the HD payload package. $200 bux in airbags and you're good to go.

He is looking to tow his 35' travel trailer. He should get the HD pkg since his trailer is the same make as mine just 3' longer and a little heavier. I have the max tow pkg on my truck and my trailer has me within 200lbs of my trucks GVWR. So I'm sure he would be over the trucks GVWR without the HD pkg.. Just for the record , using airbags doesn't change what the truck is rated to carry...

I don't plan to have much weigh in the bed of the truck. Will be my wife and I (300 pounds) daughter and car seat 20-30 pounds. 80 pound dog... Then the normal camping luggage which most will be in the camper except maybe a bundle of fire wood.

I'd much rather get the fx4 with max tow if it would work but if I'm going to be THAT much better off ill go with the lariat to get the payload and max tow
