GVW weight
Just wondering why there is a difference on door sticker and registration papers on GVW. Door sticker on my '09 says 7200 lbs. but registration tells me 8157 lbs. Who puts the door sticker on. Factory, weight police ? Where does insurance registration get their numbers. Thanks

The door sticker should be correct. It's put on at the factory. The registration s done by the dealer.
This site has a VIN decoder (look up at the top bar under "Tech Tools"), but it's pretty vague about weights. For mine all I get for GVWR is:
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating Cap: 7500, 7050, 6700 lbs (6700.0 min/8200.0max)
The 8200# would be if I had the HD Payload option, which I don't. Just the Max Payload, so my door jamb says 7500#.
Perhaps your truck does have the HD Payload option giving it 8157# GVWR, but it really should be on the door jamb. Do you have 7 lug axle/wheels? Regular F150s have 6 lugs, those with HD Payload have 7 lugs, and SuperDuty's have 8 lugs. Think that applies to 2009?
