You have a big trailer. I am no expert, but from what I have read around here, 6 MPG might be all you can get when pulling something like that. There might not be anything wrong with your truck. This is just my opinion. Let us know what the dealer says.

I hope that isn't all I am going to get from my truck. If that is the case, a super duty is in my future for sure. Dropped it off today. I will report back with how it goes.

It is going to the dealer Thursday for them to see what is wrong. I expected more of what you guys posted around 12.
I only get 16 mpg average without anything hooked up.
You're camper is pretty good size, both in dimension and weight.
Going 70, 6 mpg is maybe a tad low, but no way you'll ever see 12 mpg, or even 10, unless you slow down.
I think pulling that at 70 mph, assuming you were comfortable, says a lot about how good these trucks are.
Don't be surprised if your dealer can't find anything wrong.

Well, I can't say that I am surprised that the dealer said there is nothing wrong. I went and spoke to the salesperson and sales manager. We will be doing some experimenting in the next week to get to the bottom of our next move. I am going to take a known EB that is on the lot and pull my camper down the same path and see what kind of results we get. I was also informed by the service department that you can't tell anything about mileage till after the first 5,000 miles. So I guess the battle begins. I sure hope this thing gets resolved one way or the other. I might be getting a SD after all. Guess I should have went that route in the first place. 6mpg would pay for that upgrade pretty quick.

Cool

I have an '11 Lariat Supercrew 4x4, 6.2 Max Tow with 3.73's. I tow a custom built Homesteader Challenger 7x14 V-nose, tandem axle trailer that is 7' tall. In it I have a '12 Polaris Ranger HD with a cab, and a few access.. Trailer weight is approx. 2,020 lbs. dry weight. Ranger with cab and access. is around 1,450 lbs.? So loaded tow weight approx. 3,475-3,500 lbs.. I tow it to West Virginia which is about a 265 mile trip. First half is relatively flat. Last half is up and thru the mountains to my place in Burlington. I have a SCT Livewire with a custom 91 performance, and a 91 performance/tow tune. So far I've towed mostly with the stock tune, and with that at 60mph I seem to average about 12.5mpg..

Stock before the Livewire - At 60-65mph the average was 10.8-11.3mpg.. The best I ever got stock on level ground, at 55mph was 13mpg.. But that was in nice conditions.

Livewire on Canned tune - My last trip back from WV on 6/10 - At first I was traveling at 60mph, but about half way home it was taking too long. So I bumped up to 65mph, the trip averaged 11.42mpg.. My average on level ground was about 12.3 when I checked. This was the only trip on this tune.

Livewire Tow tune - I used it once and I only got 9.8mpg. with this tune. By the time I got to WV I had used another 8-9 gallons and the pipes were dead black. There must be a problem with the tune, but I just haven't had a chance to call 5star about it.

Now, a few months after I got my truck I bought an '11 Keystone Bullet Premier 29REPR travel trailer. Total length was 33'6". Dry weight was about 5,950 lbs.. With the upgrades I did (bigger propane tanks, dual batteries), and with full tanks, and cargo I was around 7,000 lbs. or so. On level ground at 55mph I averaged 12-12.5 mpg.. Funny thing was, When I ordered my cargo trailer I was expecting to do a lot better on mpg than I did with the travel trailer. But it didn't. When Looking at pictures of both the cargo trailer and the Bullet, the Homesteader is clearly a foot taller than the travel trailer was. So I was surprised.
