Default Ford brake control compatible with older trailers?

I am about to install a Ford TBC in my 2013 F150, and plan to haul an early 2000's model camper. A buddy told me that his GMC' s TBC wouldn't be compatible with the older trailer, has anyone had these issues with their Ford?

are you refering to the brakes on the trailer being controlled or sway control....electric brakes or electric over hydraulic....either way tow your trailer and have fun.. it'll do it..

Yes it will work. Your buddy doesn't know what he is talking about.

The system is just an application of electrical current that engages a magnet in the trailer.

No old or new systems.

Thanks for the info, I didn't think I would run into issues with this, but it never hurts to double check here. He didn't specify what problems there were with GMC or where he got the info for that matter, so it may have been nothing to worry about from the start.
