Default First tow with 2013 Ecoboost

Took the 2013 Ecoboost on her maiden voyage. I'm not a new to towing RVs. Have owned two different fivers and Ram 3500s. So, I know what diesel torque is all about. I was totally blown away with the performance especially when I needed to pass the slowpokes. Trip was about 120 miles each way. Drove the speed limit of 50 to 65 mph. Averaged 9.8 mpg. As you can see from the trip profile below, it wasn't a flat trip in Kansas!

8200' Buena Vista, Colorado
7480' Poncha Springs
9037' Poncha Pass
7717' Saguache
10,061' Cochetopa Pass
9950' Saguache Park, Colorado
Reverse back to start

Trailer specs:

4900# dry
550# hitch weight
750# food, water, clothes, etc.
650# Driver, dogs, generators, gas, etc.

Sounds like a good trip. I'm hoping I can make it up there next summer.

FWIW, my dad grew up in leadville. Beautiful area by BV.

The Eco turbos must really help at those elevations. I imagine even the 6.2L V8 would be gasping for air.

Been through Buena Vista several times. Used to love to eat at Delaney's Depot! I am from Indiana and I just completed my first tow in my 2012 Super Crew Ecoboost 2WD w/Econ axle. 500 mile round trip to Mid Ohio raceway. Open car hauler w/my race car for a total weight of 4600#. Drove a consistent 55mph and got 17.5 MPG!!!!

There's a few places we go where the roads break into 2 lanes for uphill passing. It's really nice to blow by the slowpoke left lane hogs.

That big fat, flat torque curve on the Ecoboost makes towing a pleasure.

I'm pretty certain that forum rules require photos to be posted when threading such topics.
Get on it before I have to report you!

I have a 13 EB with the tow package and I am highly impressed with it also. It's a Great truck coming from a 03 2500 cummins.

I have a 2011 EB and have Towed alot with it, My trailer is 6,600lbs. I been over the rockies Three time and back, to the grand canon and back. the power is always great you never seem to run out of extra pulling power. My 460 in my F250 didn't pull near as well. Ford really got it right with this engine. That long flate torque band starting at such low RPM really make towing GREAT!!
