Default Fact or Fiction...

My lease on a Honda Pilot is up in April and due to it's anemic towing ability I'm letting it go and will be getting into an F-150. My hope was to be able to lease a new F-150 and have some cash left over to go towards a modest trailer to take our 6 year old camping. My brother in law insists that, even with an appropriate towing package etc., I won't be able to lease if I intend to tow. While it doesn't make much sense to me stranger things have happened.

So, is it a yeah or a nay?

Thanks for any help.

Even if this were true, which I cannot speak too, how would they know if you towed with it anyway?

Nonsense. People lease trucks because they need trucks and the dealer knows it. I have a leased 2013 F150 that I tow with all the time. The dealer knows that I tow with it because I showed up on the lot towing a 25' trailer. The best bang for your buck is the 5.0 with 3.73 gears.

Dirttracker:

Well... One would assume that when I insist on the towing package the sales person might twig...

That's what I thought... But, as I said, stranger things happen...

Thanks...

Absolute nonsense. As long as you abide by the terms of the lease (re: modifications to the vehicle etc) you are just fine. I pulled with my TT's over 20,000 miles 08 F-150 and had ZERO issues upon lease return.

We've been leasing trucks for our business for a lot of years and have used every one of them as trucks hauling and towing. The ones that have been really good trucks we have kept and bought out at the end of the lease, and the questionable or bad ones, or ones that have been in accidents we turn back in at the end of the lease. For some people leasing is actually a smarter financial decision than buying and trading in or selling every few years.

Most leased trucks come with the tow package, otherwise they are too difficult to sell after the lease is up. If you want to lease without the tow package that is usually the special order.
