Default f150 snow plow springs

can I put f250 springs on the front of my 1998 f150 to raise the front end up a bit? The plow is sagging the front suspension too much.

Ford does not recommend mounting a snowplow on an F-150, because the front GAWR is not robust enough to handle even a lightweight snowplow. So they don't make a snowplow prep pkg for it. They do make a snowplow prep pkg for an F-250 4x4, and that pkg is required before you mount a snowplow on an F-250 - else your factory warranty is voided.

But you don't care about the Ford warranty on a 1998 pickup, so if you want to be an outlaw and ignore Ford's advice, then any good spring fabrication shop should be able to fabricate and install you a pair of front springs with weight rating around 6,000 pounds@ground. I doubt the F-250 parts will fit, but good spring fabrication shops are available in/near most big cities.

Aren't there torsion bars on your truck? If you do have coils call eibach cause they can get you the spring you're looking for. The main things are the width, length and coil weight, that will keep it from sagging.

I'm not certain where you got this idea, this is from the manual:

It clearly says you can use a properly equipped F150 for plowing.

That's from the dark ages of the '99 F-150 when they also made a weird pickup called the F-250 LD, which was a beefed up F-150 with HD suspension, 7-lug wheels, and F-250 badges. Ford still makes that beefed up F-150, but since the 2000 model year it has been called the F-150 with HD payload package.

The more modern F-150 Owner's Guide says:

You vehicle is not equipped with a snowplowing package.

That's an aftermarket company trying to sell you something. Until Ford approves it, then mounting it will void your factory warranty.

I got that. And if all I wanted to know was what the manual said, I'd go to that. I don't need it quoted.
Do you plow much snow in Texas?

After I graduated from College, I lived in Maine two winters, Omaha 6 winters, and Denver 20 winters. I know what is required to plow snow with a Ford pickup without voiding the Ford factory warranty. When I retried, I moved here to get away from plowing snow. It worked.
