Curt Class IV Issue
I've been looking for a REAL Class IV hitch for my 2012 SCREW. Plenty of so-called Class III/IV hitches which max out at 600# tongue weight - I need about 625 - 650#.
Curt makes a Class IV, model #C1400, but there is a note that it only fits trucks WITHOUT a factory hitch! I sent email to etrailer.com questioning why this would be so. The reply I got back states "The frame where the hitch attaches is different on the F-150's that do not come with a factory hitch and that's what the aftermarket hitches are designed to fit"
So either Ford are DumbAs_es for making 2 different frames for the same truck making for higher manufacturing costs, or Curt are DumbAs_es for making a hitch that only will fit a minority of the F150s Ford sells. (I'm pretty sure more than 75% of the F150s come with the factory tow package. Probably 99% here in Texas.)
Does anybody know if the purported Class IV hitch that comes on the 2013 SCREW can be bolted on to a 2012? Is it really a Class IV rated at 1,000# tongue weight, or one of those lame Class III/IV hitches? If you have a 2013 with said hitch, can you crawl under it and check the sticker to see what the actual rating is?

ok, here's the sticker that is on my 2012 SCREW . . . no tow package . . . don't think this is the hitch that you'll want for high weight boats and TT . .. guess I need to get a different one too . . .

Is your truck a 2013 and you mis-typed the year in your reply? The 2012 came with a Class III receiver hitch rated as your sticker says. The 2013 is reported to come with a Class IV receiver. If it's really a Class IV it should have a rating of 1,000# tongue weight and 10,000# trailer weight. That's what I'm asking someone with a 2013 to check.
