I picked up the Super Duty caps from A1. (2011 F-250)
It takes about 30 seconds to swap each one. Well worth the extra cost, IMO.

I think there may be a part of the mirror base contacting the steel of the door thereby preventing a factory tight finish. I have to have a small gap either at the top or bottom which leads me to believe they pivot on some point of contact in between. I must investigate later when time allows. For now, I can't wait for camping season to resume!

Extended in anticipation..

I installed my mirrors this weekend and noticed that the passenger side mirror at the top is gapped. Took it for a short drive and didn't notice any noise but I worry that the rain will get inside and ruin the mechanism. I haven't tried replacing the foam with the OEM foam of the original mirrors like was suggested earlier in this thread, maybe later this week I will. If others here are having the same gapping issue with the mirrors maybe Tony should have a talk with their vendor to fix the issue.
One thing I will say loudly is that its so nice not having to get in and out of the truck to fold the mirrors every time I move my truck in and out of the garage , HURRAY !

Do these mirrors have the flex function where if the mirror get hits it folds in either direction like the small stock mirrors are on my fx4? Very interested in buying these but was curious about that. Thanks for any response guys

I have this issue also on my passenger and i was worried about water damage too. I called 1A about a whistle noise from the passenger mirror that will not go away, and they shipped me a new mirror. UPS has keeps trying to deliver the package while im at work (they usually come at 7pm EVERY TIME besides this) Hopefully they will get it right tomorrow and i can let you know if a replacement mirror still has the gap or not.
Do you have a gap along the bottom edge of the mirrors? Both of mine have it there

I just looked and yes I do seem to have a gap at the bottom edge of both mirrors. I might seal them up with some silicon seal but leave a small opening for moisture to drain.

Just installed these on my 2014 FX4, install was extremely easy, just plug-n-play. There is a gap on my passenger side mirror on the bottom and the window side. No whistle noise though.

Driver's mirror is a little bit slower than the passenger, but still really happy with it, as that is a non-issue.

10/31 - I finally got to install the new mirror. This mirror fits much more flush with the truck. the gap at the bottom is still there but that is how it is made. Everywhere else is contacting the truck. The test runs I have made produced no whistle.
- Customer service was great. They sent me a passenger AND driver replacement mirror at no charge. Now I have a spare for each side I guess haha.

ok so I noticed tonight that my cargo light now stays on 24/7. I'm betting this is from splicing into the green and purple wire in the doors to enable the running lights for the mirrors. When splicing into the green/purple wires, there were two green/purple wires running to the harness. I guessed on which one to splice into. Could I have used the wrong one?

-update - I removed my wiring, and found that tapping into the green/purple wires back fed my cargo light. It looks like I will have to run a separate wire to have "running lights"
