Default F150 and CAT scale weights- what is my tongue weight?

Went to the CAT scale today with our new truck and the new trailer we bought last March (2012). Trailer is a Sunset Trail 20CK, factory dry weight is 4201 lbs.

I'm trying to make sure I'm within the limits of our new truck. Truck is an F150, 2012 Screw, 5' 5" bed, Max Tow, Ecoboost.

Here are the numbers from today.

Here are the numbers from the new scale readings (F150).

Weight #1: Truck + Trailer with WDH Bars Installed

Steer Axle (Front): 3520 lbs
Drive Axle (Rear): 3760 lbs
Trailer Axle: 4460 lbs
Gross Weight: 11,740 lbs

Weight #2: Truck + Trailer without WDH Bars

Steer Axle (Front): 3200 lbs
Drive Axle (Rear): 4280 lbs
Trailer Axle: 4280 lbs
Gross Weight: 11,760 lbs (Somehow we gained 20 lbs?)

Truck Only:

Steer Axle (Front): 3580 lbs
Drive Axle (Rear): 2920 lbs
Gross Weight: 6500 lbs

So, is the tongue weight 980 lbs? (Weight #2 - Truck Only weight)

Or, did some of the weight get pulled from the front of the truck? (weight 2 steer axle weight is 380 lbs less than the truck alone when the trailer is connected, no WD bars)

The trailer weight is 5260 lbs. ((weight 2 - truck only weight) which would mean that my tongue weight is 18% of the trailer) Too high, if my numbers are right.

We're only going about 30 miles for the weekend. On longer trips, I don't carry the fresh water tank full. 38 gallons of fresh water when full (32 + 6 in the hot water heater, or 304 lbs)

The water tank is in front of the trailer axles BTW.

Payload capacity on the door sticker is 1788 lbs. Front axle limit is 3750 lbs and rear axle is 4050 lbs.

Am I within the limits of the truck? How much tongue weight can the truck handle?

thanks

Correct.

Without the WDH, your rear axle gained 1360#, so that's your 980# hitch weight plus your missing 380# from the front axle because of weight transfer.

Tongue weight is what it is. Yours is higher than what most people estimate, but that doesn't make it "too high".

You are not exceeding GAWR, GVWR or GCWR. Textbook definition of being within the limits of your truck.

That's about as good as it gets. Good work!
