Default Engine break - tow haul mode?

Pulling our trailer from Gettysburg, PA to Canton OH today over some pretty good and long grades. Some 4-6% grades. Using tow haul mode with our 5200# trailer.

My question is - once you engage the engine breaking feature going down a grade, how can you disengage it on the same downhill run?

For example, we start down a hill, pick up a little speed, I hit the breaks a little. Now the truck thinks I want the engine breaking feature to kick in and starts slowing me down. Instead, I want to coast, maintain, or gain a little speed for the up hill that's coming next. In short, I want to control my decend speed with the break pedal. Once the engine breaking feature is engaged, I found no way to disengage it, other than to temporarily turn off tow haul mode.

Is there any other way to stop the engine breaking once it starts?

I couldn't find an easy way to search for this topic, so my apologies if this has been discussed previously.

Easy - mash on the gas pedal. Even just a little tap. The throttle position sensor will tell the computer that you are done with engine braking.

Have you also discovered that you can tap the brake pedal a second time for even more engine braking?

I tried that, but it didn't seem to work that well. RPMs stayed above 3000 even after trying to accelerate. I guess I'll have to play with this some more.

Yep. Seems to work well, just need to find a way to 'not brake' after it's engaged.
