Anyone had any luck finding a cause to this issue? Mine does the exact things as described every time I pull my 2 place snowmobile trailer. I have also had it happen recently not towing. When cruising at hwy speed with light throttle it will do it if you are driving into a strong headwind. So towing a trailer or driving into a headwind has the engine under more load, almost has to be turbo boost related? I just have a hard time believing that it can be considered normal for the turbo blow off to vibrate the truck to make it sound like driving over rumble strips. I really wish there was a know repair.

In our last snowstorm (which was only 2 weeks ago if you can believe!) I was in 4wd cruising along in a very strong head wind and it did the same vibration/grinding as before but it was MUCH louder in 4wd than 2wd. I still haven't taken it too the dealer for this because I'm sure I will hear the same thing as always, "we can't replicate the problem". I really don't want to drag the trailer with me to the dealer and have a tech ride with me till I can find the right stretch of road to make this noise happen.

So I had TSB 13-8-10 performed to take care of the misfire I was experiencing in 6th gear and it also seemed to solve this howling issue while towing! I towed my trailer with sled before the TSB and I could get it to make the noise quite a bit and after the TSB I haven't heard it since. I will be hauling the sleds 600 miles next week so that will be the real test and I will report back.

The vacuum pump concern has been discussed in other threads. Vacuum must be maintained for brake boost, some accessory functions, and emissions (and trust me, when towing your Ecoboost is certainly producing lots of emissions!).

Whether yours is excessive NVH is something you & the dealer my have to hash out. Maybe they can magically kick it on while idling to test. Maybe you will need to escalate to Ford HQ. Maybe need to adjust your ears to accept it as ""OK".

Any known fix to the humming/vibration issues? Mine does this at 2000 rpm intermently and when I shift to park. My trans cooler has an erratic vibration when the noise occurs and will last for 15 seconds or so then stop like a switch was flipped or if I tap the throttle it stopped instantly ... annoying

Any further updates? I drove my truck yesterday and today in below zero temps on the freeway for about 40 miles and the noise and vibration were happening constantly. I wasn't towing anything, but there was a pretty strong wind. I know last winter it happened whenever I pulled my snowmobile trailer at highway speeds and it happened once not pulling the trailer when it was cold and windy. Now this winter starting off even worse.
