Default disappointed with new truck

So I traded in my 2011 Lariat 4x4 ecoboost, was lifted with 4" Rancho and 35s. I traded for a 2015 F250 Lariat 4x4 6.2, installed 2" level and 35s. I get 10-12mpg all the time and it doesn't pull as good as my eco did. Even down shifts on hills to 4th gear empty. Pulled my 22' boat home from texas and got 9mpg and was constantly hitting 4th gear and sometimes 3rd on hills. I've had my truck not quite 3 months and looking at trading for another f150 eco. Am I crazy??

Anyone else UPGRADED and sorry they did???

if u have/had a huge trailer the 3/4 ton frame/ brakes will handle it better at the cost of gas ( should've got the diesel) also did you re-prog for tires? u have big tires, a gasser on 3/4 frame i do say 10-12 is good for that set up. did u get 4.10 gears?

You buy 7300 lb rig , install big tires and a lift and now complain about fuel mileage and sluggesness. I have no idea what might be wrong here.......

Well you are kinda stuck with the 6.2L now...Seems like the best thing to do would be go to a bit smaller diameter tire and get a tuner that also works with tuning the tranny. I am sure that a 6.2L can be made to work towing within its stated limits. None of these trucks get great magic mpg when towing anything substantial...

...and Yes, you could be a bit crazy for already thinking about trading after 3 months. Take about 1/2 or less of what you would lose and do some smart upgrades...or bite the bullet and get a 3/4 ton

Why did you go with the 6.2 over the 6.7? Your MPG's after mods sound about right.

Ok first off the factory 20" tires are 34.4" tall. and the big 35" mud tires I put on are 34.69" tall. So yeah I would say a 1/4" would make a huge difference. lol And yes I know they are an inch wider so yes there is some extra rolling resistance. As for the LIFT, I installed factory F350 blocks in the rear and a level kit up front. BIG LIFT there!!!! And yes I do expect the truck to get better mileage than what it does. NOT my first F250 or F350, I have had 7.3s, a 5.4, and 4 V10s. and I have to say the 6.2 is probably worse than my 01 5.4 truck that was same configuration. As to why I didn't get a 6.7, About $8200 is why, and I don't pull enough to justify needing the added expenses of the diesel. I'm not like most of the people that run around in their diesels and hardly ever pull anything.

What I am saying is that my 2011 F150 with the 3.5L V6 ecoboost would out pull my beast of a truck F250 6.2L V8!!!!!! That in my opinion shouldn't be the case.

I did get a 3/4 ton. And yes the truck handles the trailer better, but doesn't have the power the V6 had

Ford detunes the 6.2 in the 250/350 from the tune they ran on the 150. It's all about duty cycle on the larger trucks and not giving way to a quick death. A tune should get you some decent gains.

The 6.2 is a gas hog, tuned or not. It will give you 200,000+ problem free miles, but it will not win you races or tow the fastest. I wouldn't worry about what gear it's in, let it do what it does. The 6.2 is a great trouble free engine, but agree in this age of HP wars...it is a little under powered.

While there are no published ratings for the Super Duty for mileage fuelly.com shows an average mileage nearly the same as what you have experienced. Your new truck has great capacity and will do a "super duty" job, but think farm truck pulling anhydrous ammonia tanks or a construction truck hauling the skid steer on a trailer. This workhorse won't spool up as quick as a twin turbo and won't ever get as good a mileage. That is why I ordered a heavy duty payload F150 with the 3.5 EcoBoost (one of the orders cancelled by Ford due to the frame shortage).

I wouldn't look at trading back down. Just appreciiate your tough new truck for the great strong brute it is for many miles!
