Yes, the integrated trailer brake controller ( ITBC) was a standalone option for F-150s that did not have the max tow pkg. On my 2012 I didn't want the 3.73 axle ratio that was part of the max tow pkg, so I ordered the regular tow pkg plus the ITBC.

Ya, well, this was your biggest mistake. Never let a salesman tell you what you need. This absolutely needs to be determined before stepping on a lot.

Your truck is enough. Agree with others, the unfortunate part is the gears. The 5.0 makes it power in mid to higher rpms, so getting the revs up quicker is better for racing and towing in that case. But she will do it, just will be slower off the line and may not want to shift into overdrive....
