Regearing is expensive for 4x4... almost would justify cost of new truck at that point. Would be $4k of the way there

To answer the gear question, I have 3.55 but with the smaller rear diff.

I got my quote back from the dealer this evening. The pricing on the 17 is reasonable but they are knocking $24k off sticker for trade on my 2016. That is a bit much to swallow and even though I am not upside down in my truck, not sure the 2017 is worth that much to me.

Don't do it. You wont gain much going to the EB. As mentioned, dump the 3.55 gears for shorter gears, and slow it down a bit while towing. Your trailer tires aren't rated at 80 MPH and you are putting quite a bit at risk driving that fast. At slower speeds you will find the truck uses a higher gear since it doesn't have to work so hard. While the EB has more low end grunt, it uses the turbos heavily to do so, and if tuned can give you a false sense of masochism and overheat. I pulled up the rockies at 65 MPH in mine pulling my TT and overheated. Engine pulled like mad but the cooling system can't keep up. I switched it back to stock on the return trip, and kept my eye on the temps and was able to still outpull the others, but not as quickly.

Keep your truck. I don't think the cost is worth it.

Go for it if you can afford it. This is a good lessons for others to buy the right truck in the first place.
