Question Can a 2012 F150 pull a 9700# fifth wheel toy hauler

I'm really looking for some helping figuring this out. I've talked with the Ford dealer and based on the package that the truck has, they say I shouldn't have any problems. But I would like something a little more difinitive.

What engine? What cab size? Is it 2wd or 4wd truck?

Without knowing the pin weight of the trailer, it is impossible to even make a wild guess.

My number crunching a few months ago made me come to the conclusion that almost any 5th wheel over 22-23' will be over the rear axle rating carrying a typical load if you do not have the HD payload package.

The best bet would be an EB with the max tow and max payload packages. I think you need a crew cab or long-bed scab to get that combo though.

No matter what its pushing it (assuming 9700 is dry wieght) by the time you add driver/passengers, gear, food, water, assuming you have toys to put in that toyhauler, etc. Tell us what truck you have, what you plan on taking with you, and that will help.....

Assuming that is the loaded weight, even with the HD payload package, you would struggle to make the ratings work. A 2wd would help but you still might not make it legally (and safely). Keep in mind the 11,xxx trailer rating is an open trailer. When you start adding frontal area beyond 60 sq ft, you need to back down the weight. Nearly any modern tt/5th is more than 60 sq ft.

Just for reference, I'm within 200 lb of my GVWR with an 8500lb loaded 5th, light non-slider hitch and two lighter people plus small child in the cab. I'm also under the 4800 RAWR by a decent margin. No air bags with mine but you start pushing 10k+ and you might!

Default Info for my F150 towing question

Thanks to everyone that responded.. I am new to the business of towing and purchased this fifth wheel in earlier this year. I've been out with it three times, and the truck seemed to handle everything ok. But now I'm really questioning my decision, based largely by people's reactions. Both the RV store and the Ford dealer have said I would have no problem....granted I'm sure that was to make sure they got the sale
I know it may be too late, but I don't want to endanger anyone and if I have to park it, I will til I can sell it.

The major point I need to make is that I do not intend to load any "toys" in the back. I bought this fifth wheel to use that area for my mobile embroidery business. The weight that I would add in regards to this would be roughly a couple hundred pounds.

There are a lot of questions that all of you asked that I don't know how to answer. So I've attached a copy of the vehicle description that was on the truck window when I bought it. I've added to the truck, AirLift Load Controller II and a Superglide #2700 (gross trailer weight capacity of 15k, pin weight of 3,750 lbs). The Superglide weighs approximately 200lbs.

The label on the truck door reads as follows:
GVWR: 7200LB
Front GAWR: 3750 lb
Rear GAWR: 3850 lb

The fifth wheel toy hauler is a Forest River 32SRV-1S, 2 axle. The lable information reads as follows:

Cargo Carry Capacity - Dry weight: 9461 lbs. Cargo weight should not exceed: 4365 lbs. Pictures of labels from fifth wheel attached.
