Default camper tie downs

Using a 2013 Ford F-150 8 foot box as a vehicle, I have heard that the best and Ford suggested way of securing a pickup camper to my unit is with frame mounted ties. Is this correct? Ford or my dealer, so far has not responded to me question. thanks my40

They use to make brackets that would sit in the pocket openings on the bed but I have only seen the bar under the truck type lately. You can make your own fairly easily if they cannot come up with a premade one. It isn't rocket science...

You want the frame mounted ones. old school the bed pocket ones might have been okay but now the beds are much lighter construction and it might not take it

i did some searching last summer..if your getting a 1200-1500lb camper..i'd get the frame brackets...if its under a 1000 then you maybe ok with something like these...i copied the design idea an made my own..

Check out Torklift International. I bought the brackets and installed them myself in my driveway, rather easy to do. They are made using 1/4" powder coated steel. I can take a couple pics later today. They also tuck up high and out of the way when not in use.

I hauled an overhead camper on a 1985 F-150 for a long time. I had brackets pretty much identical to those shown above in the front and had eyebolts attached to the frame on the back. It never slipped a bit in the several years I toted it around the country.

The only F150 rated for a camper is the HD version maybe that's why no response from Ford.

Again, the older truck beds were heavier and stiffer I had a 77 f250 and was surprised how much lighter the new tailgates are,
