My truck is a 13 ecoboost with tow package but not max tow, screw with short bed. I would nearly always be driving it to the campground alone and bringing the family a day or two later so load inside the truck should be light.

You guys have given me enough pause that I am going to see if I can find something that will be decent enough in the 26 foot range. I am pretty confident I can pull the 32 footer fine based on others with the same config and weights but I am pretty nervous about maneuvering around the twisty campground asphalt. I have never towed more than a popup. I think saving 6 feet of length and 500 pounds could be very helpful if i can find something.

That sounds like a wise choice. My Wilderness 2175 RB is 26'4" from hitch to rear bumper. My first camping stop direct from the RV dealer was Lake of the Ozarks State Park. They have paved asphalt roads with a combination of paved pull-thru and back-in campsites. My first choice was a nice pull-thru site. as I inched my brand new travel trailer into the pull-thru, I was watching the top of my travel trailer in the tow mirrors. A low hanging branch was going to rip my rolled up awning off if I proceeded to pull-thru. I ended up backing out of the pull-thru campsite. As you mentioned, "the twisty campground asphalt" can cause major problems for the bigger travel trailers.

I finally settled for this nice back-in campsite. Took me three tries, but I did it! And I cleared the trees by 6 inches.
