Camper frame swap/toy hauler project
#91
Took it on a 340 mile trip this weekend took a little adjusting to get it to stop swaying. Basically can have almost no tongue weight on the back of the camper. I added sway control to the second trailer as well. The truck pulls them great honestly has enough power to get it done. 75mph is really as fast as I want to go with it I did take it to 80 once.

Bit of a update I know it has been a while. Sense I finished it I have been from Illinois to dallas to to Illinois to Charllote NC back to Illinois and now in Dodge city Kansas with many smaller trips in between. It is night and difference how much better it pulls with the new frame. It wouldn't be hard to forget it is back there now with zero sway. I stepped up to a 2011 6.7 F250 and love it. Now for the bad on my way here I had a bearing failer and can not get parts for the Alcoa torsion axle as they where bought out by dexter. So I had to leave it in Mo at a camper place to have two new leaf spring axles put under it $1,500. I also ended up building a rack on the bed for my RZR.

Are you at legal weight with that setup??? Just asking.....I'd be pulled over so fast here......not even talking about the second trailer!

coryjones, while I appreciate your welding skills and your sense of adventure, I think you're crazy. I am somewhat relieved to see that at least you've stepped up the tow rig and tossed that ridiculous 2nd trailer. Towing doubles is one thing, but 71 ft overall with a half-ton was simply irresponsible and putting other lives at risk on the highway.
I do like your idea of a 5th wheel and living the gypsy life. I admire that. Good luck to you.
