i was in the same situation ..but plan on using my truck as a daily driver mostly,,local dealer had my exact truck with the max tow pkg..3.73, big mirrors, brake controller,...I ended up goin with the 3.55 and reg mirrors..i only pull my 7000 lb camper about 5 times a year, and wanted the crew cab for the room..my 2000 7.3l is only ex cab, so little cramped with the family in it..pulled camper once, and couldnt tell it was behind me...load leveling hitch helps distribute weight off the tongue as well....

Well... this cat.... worked a **** load of 18 hour days for a couple weeks. Then after finally pushing the project out the door last Tuesday, I took Wednesday thru Friday off, hooked up the trailer to the new truck, and went camping until this AM. Once I dropped the trailer in the driveway this AM I spent the whole day getting ready for hurricane Sandy since I'm right in the main path.

In between I managed to work a deal for a new 2012 SCrew XLT 4WD, Candy Apple Red Metallic w/Silver, 3.55 axle and tow package and the EcoBoost engine.
I opted not to get the max tow package because all the tow ratings with my trailer are well within safe limits. On top of that I'm looking to go to a LIGHTER trailer in the next year or so.

I did all my negotiating over the internet and had three dealers involved. It made it easy to work a deal while working those long days. The dealer I eventually boought from gave me a nice fair deal and it was the best car/truck buying experience I've ever had BUT I had all my numbers for trade and new truck lined up and ready to go.

I only pulled a very short distance this weekend but the Ecoboost was a huge step up comparedd to my old truck.

Yeah I know. We only put about 9000 miles a year on our truck but I knew I was going to be towing so we actually used the truck more than usual to get some miles on it before towing. I drove it to work a coup[le of days (120 miles round trip) to get the miles up.

We had about 900 miles on it when I hooked the trailer to it. ONly took the trailer 7 miles on ground flat as a pancake. I figure I'm OK!!!
