Best trailer tire for the money?
#11
On my GN, the spec is for Lt tires load range E minimum with F as an option. I run load range E, as I find it nearly impossible to get to the GVWR of 16800 in a 3 horse trailer that has a scale tested no horse weight(all our tack and gear but no horses) of 5500 lbs. I bought Hercules Terra Tracs and they have been perfect, super smooth ride and very stable.

Maxxis? Isn't that also the largest producer of feminine hygiene products? Sorry smokey wren; Sometimes everybody is wrong once. This is your time! I get tired of it!

I can't argue for the LTs, since I don't use them on trailers. I went with the Maxxis ST tires. The tire dealer that I trust says that Maxxis is the only ST tire he will sell. So far, so good. When I bought the camper, it had 4-year-old ST205/75R15 LRC tires, Road Rider brand, which I had never heard of, with a load rating of 4% more than the GVWR of the axle. It now has Maxxis ST225/75R15 LRD with a load rating 45% more than the GVWR of the axle. I did have to buy a new wheel for the spare as the OEM was too narrow for the larger size tire.
I recently retired some 8-year-old 175/80R13 LRC Maxxis tires I had on an open three rail motorcycle trailer. They still looked fine.
