Default Best Family Campground in New England?

My wife and I are looking for a campground to spend a week at the first week of July.

We are in our late 20's and have a 7month old.

Live in central VT but willing to travel a little.

We are new to camping!

Depending on what you are looking to do, I can suggest Woodmore Campground. Iwas there in the early 90s and again in 2007. I was under new owners in 2007 and they had done a lot. The website seems to be down but the are in business. There are located in Rindge NH. www.woodmorecampground.com/

We went to Abel MTn at the end of last year it was our first and only camping trip... I don't have anything to compare it to but we really liked it there. Nice clean pool and a river right next to the camper. People were great too!

We like to swim, hike, fish, and RELAX! Haha

Thanks for the replies.

We are going to rest n nest for the week of Labor Day weekend now were just trying to find a place to go for the week of July 4th

Well, Odetah can be a destination in itself:

Our kids are on their own but this was a very nice campground for families. It's close to some casinos (if you're into that), Mystic Seaport, the USS Nautelus museum, and a few more things to do.

You can also checkout Old Orchard beach, Me if you like the beach. You can't beat those fresh cut Pier french fries with vinegar and fried dough! When your child gets older they have a small amusement park right on the beach for the kids. I have stayed at Bailey's Camp resort which was real nice but would not recommend it until your child is older. They are a little pricey only because they have some many activities for the kids. We also stayed at Hid n' Pines campground which i would recommend. Both campgrounds offer a trolley service which will bring you to the beach or the main strip and Pier.

OP, I guess it depends on what you like to do. As EcoboostKev said, the Old Orchard Beach area can probably be fun, walking around the little shops and pier (I find the beach to be somewhat disgusting though). The Portland Head Light is probably a little over half an hour away, then there is the Old Port in Portland, we've gone out on the ferry in Casco Bay (they have a few different 'runs' that can be good to see some of the sights in the bay). LL Bean and the outlet stores in Freeport are probably a little over an hour away if you have a rainy day.

Farther north (much farther north), we found Hadley's Point to be a pretty nice place. It is about 5 minutes from Acadia National Park. The owners seemed really nice (that was our first trip out with our new TT, I made a wrong turn based on their map and got into a bit of a bind. The owner helped me out and once we got to our site, helped us set up, made sure we had no questions before heading back to the office).
