Default Benefit if any Towing 33ft. TT, having HD payload package on 2012 F 150 eco

Hi. I am about to order a 2012 F150 ecoboost since they don't have what I need at Ford Dealership.
I plan on towing a 8010 lb. travel trailer (bumper hitch) along with carrying my 4 wheel atb hence the need for a 6 1/2 foot bed. I will tow the trailer about 1 month out of the year so like the idea of ecoboost gas mileage for the remaining 11 months out of the year.
So I plan on ordering the:
WC1 Lariat 157" WB Supercrew 6 1/2ft. bed
Max towing package.
My question is would including the HD payload package help stability towing the trailer or would it really not be needed.
The disadvantages I believe would be a loss of ride quality when not towing and unloaded... also possible loss of gas mileage because of using 17" wheels instead of the 18" wheels used for just the Max towing.
The benefits would be heavier springs and shocks along with I believe a tougher rear end. Both Max towing and HD package have the better cooling.
I'm just thinking of driving down the road with 40 to 50 mph crosswinds trailer loaded wanting a stable ride and not swaying all over the road.

What is the weight of your 4 wheeler?
With an 8,010# trailer (is this a guess or scale weight) and a 4 wheeler, you could be over your cargo capacity on a 1/2 ton.
ignore if you have worked out the numbers. That is just the first thing I thought as I read your post.

This exactly. I was planning the same til I ran the numbers, unless it's a real light sport bike, or very low cc machine, you will be well over

Sounds like you definitely need the HD payload pkg if you are going with the F150. You need to consider tongue weight with that size trailer along with payload concerns of carrying the quad and other items. Is that 8,000lb trailer unloaded or not?

You might need an F-250 from the information you've listed.

Don't even think about maxtow, just get the HD package. Payload will be your worst enemy with just maxtow. Rear axle max with max tow is 4050lbs. With the HD it's 4800lbs. FWIW, I have maxtow and a 7650GVW along with 1857lb cargo rating. I tow a 7200lb TT loaded and have a SnugTop canopy on and put about 300 more lbs in when I go camping. I'm right at the 4050lb rear axle weight rating. You have a bigger TT and will have more weight in the truck.

humblerb...Its a 400cc 4wd grizzly would think about 700 to 800lbs.
BlueOval...tongue weight would be about 950lbs. and the trailer is loaded 8010 max unloaded would be about 6000lb.
RRF150...thanks for info..sounds like your real close to what I will be...I still think I'd get Max tow with the HD package because Max Tow also includes the trailer mirrors, Better radiator, trailer brake controller, upgraded rear bumper that HD package doesn't have....
So how does the HD package ride...Does it ride Rough with the stiffer springs, Unloaded ?
Also what is your gas mileage like unloaded with the HD payload package.

Your payload is probably going to be maxed out with a 1/2 ton.
Estimate that you have 800# 4wheeler. Then estimate that you have 800# tongue weight (10% is probably light). You have 1600# payload before you ever take your seat behind the wheel.
You might be OK, but I still think you are asking a lot (and maybe too much) of a 1/2 ton.
You'll need to get your exact tongue weight (and 4wd weight if possible) and run the numbers.

Believe you are right Humblerb tongue weight is 950lbs. from my trailer manufacturer....its a fine line. I pulled the Trailer yesterday using a friends 2011 ecboost with towing package with 25 mph crosswinds and it did alright. But the trailer was not loaded (about 6500lbs.) and either was the P/U. so I will go with the HD payload package and Max tow so I won't ever look back and regret. Even though it may ride a bit rougher and lower gas mileage. BTW I pulled the trailer about 20 miles and averaged 8 to 9 mpg....but figure on highway driving I may be able to average say 12 mpg. hopefully.

Two things. You have the wrong train of thought if you buy an EB for better gas mileage. Buy the EB because it is a mean towing machine but not for improved economy over the 5.0, for example.
Second, no way in hell I would pull a 33' travel trailer with a 1/2 ton truck. Even if the weights all work out, the leverage of a tall and long TT will not be fun being pulled behind any 1/2 ton truck. Get a bigger truck, or a smaller camper.

The EB will easily handle it, the truck itself, probably not. I would highly recommend a gas burnin superduty.
