Bed length vs payload...
I was comparing some payload numbers between some trucks. As I've mentioned elsewhere I have a F150 Screw(1401# payload) and a Crew Cab Silverado(1575# payload). Both have short beds. Interestingly enough, I was comparing payload numbers to a friends GMC Sierra standard cab with a 8 ft bed. His payload was just around 1650#. All trucks were 1/2 ton. I found this interesting as the conventional wisdom is that a long bed truck should have more payload , which it does, but barely.

I noticed that as well. I have an identical build and wanted to see what kind of prices I could get for a new one, but was shocked to see I could only get 3.73 and 157" wb with a 5.0, or opt out for 3.55 with Eco. At least with the 15's, you can build an XL Screw with 6.5, 3.5EB, power windows/locks, and center console. Seems like a nice option for the base model trim, and I'm looking forward to more specs being posted about it

The reality is the payload is based on the chassis and wheelbase. The more weight from body cab & bed that you place on that chassis the less remaining payload is available. Longer beds in the same cab configuration have less payload due to the extra weight from the additional bed length. Granted if you substitute a longer bed for shorter cab length then obviously this will have more payload as bed weights are less than cab weights (due to less material).
