I have a 2016 and also had a 2010. I have an extra long hitch so I can drop the tailgate with the trailer attached. I have a v-nose trailer, so the crank is right up where it is attached to the ball. On my 2010 I never had an issue, but now with the 2016 one side will go off then maybe the other. Very annoying. I also have to lock mine for security so I can't use the hitch pin smenke uses.

As for Dirttracker18's comments, some of us use our trailers all of the time. At least I use mine once or twice a week, so I gets to be a pain to have to take it off and put it on all of the time. If you don't want to knock your shins then walk behind the cars instead of between them... Or watch what your doing.
I think the OP was looking for help. Not a lecture or to make the op feel stupid.

Smenke posts that his doesn't go off, from the photo you can tell it is a pre-2015. I think the issue is with 2015+ Trucks. I just had mine looked at by my dealer and they said there is nothing they can do. So I guess we have to wait for a software fix maybe?

Easy, when you back up the screen asks "disable backup alarm" you simply press down and ok and it stops. I have to do this when backing the trailer. Secondly, get one of these hitches and you never have to take it off again and you don't break your shins.

In some states and some provinces it is actually illegal to leave in a hitch for a receiver style hitch.

Once or twice a week and that is too much to remove it? That is just laziness.

Watch where you are going? Who looks down while they walk?

You have never cut between vehicles in a parking lot? Been in a hurry when you fill up your tank at a service station?

Total laziness to not remove it while it is not in use, especially a large WDH.

I laugh when people complain that someone stole their hitch out of there vehicle receiver, serves you right for leaving it in.

I guess all trolls need to be right so here's my salute to you!!

I've never had my hitch stolen, I have it locked so someone doesn't steal my trailer.

"Watch where you are going? Who looks down while they walk?" I guess most people look down, when they are walking between cars.... Maybe you should take a little advice and do so yourself. But enough playing into your little egotistical world. I will continue to leave mine in. Well except when I will not be towing anything for a while. Then I will take it out because I do prefer to have it removed. It isn't laziness, when your job requires you to tow a trailer for a living.

I do hope you will run into me someday, and I hope it hurts a lot!!

Exactly. I do leave mine in all the time, but a.) it folds away, and b.) it is locked. If I don't take it out then I can't misplace it when I need it.

That is why it is removable. One of my huge auto pet peeves is people that leave them in. As guy that pumped gas as a teenager I still have scares from those damn things on my shins.

There is nothing like walking between vehicles in a parking lot and smashing your shins or knees into those things.

Take it out when not in use.
Pick your feet up and watch where your walking! my hitch STAYS IN! For a reason, the last time someone wasn't paying attention was in a drive thru, they punched a hole in their bumper cover due to their stupidity and my truck remained unharmed.
.

Don't like it? Don't bump into me!!!

No care at all for other people do you? Just your own little world. Who cares if someone gets hurt so long as I can be lazy and leave my hitch in. It's all about me.

Seriously? AS I noted in the first post I worked pumping gas throughout my teen years and still have scares due to those things. I am not being egotistical I am being realistic. In the real world there are other people beyond your little world and having care and concern for others makes me human not egotistical.

*Edited to be more polite
