I'm sure every body has different situations, but I cannot get my 29' jayco in my driveway without almost touching the bumper to the frame of the trailer and I can do that with my equal-izer hitch attached.... if the people on my street didn't all park on the road I'd be fine.

not trying to bash those product though. I'm sure there are benefits. I'd imagine that there is not a perfect hitch and sway protection that works perfectly with every need and vehicle trailer combo

Ya know, I never took the friction bar off mine when backing up. Loosened it, but never took it off. That was dumb. Glad I never broke anything.

I've never had such a good towing experience with any conventional weight distribution hitch setup until I bought the cream of the crop Equal-I-zer 10k 4-point sway control!! It really makes a huge difference when semi trucks pass or I get side winds. Sway is literally non existent!!

Also, how do you dial in the amount of weight distribution with the equalizer? I'm assuming you have to use the tongue jack to raise the trailer nose enough to attach the spring bars to the trailer mounts? Then lowering the trailer tongue jack pre-loads the spring bars?

Not hard at all. They have lots of info on their website. Setup manuals, how-to, and as always, Youtube is a huge source of endless info. Once you do the initial hitch setup, you can hook up and go in under five minutes.

the manual says that you hook up the ball to the coupler, attach the bars to the hitch and raise the trailer jack to raise the back of the vehicle until the bars slide on to the L brackets on the trailer (which is the process i follow) it does come with a bar to help but for me that bar wouldn't work without raising the trailer jack with the ball in the coupler anyways.

most of the adjustment is done by setting the appropriate height of the ball on the stinger/shank then adding washers to increase or decrease the tilt of the ball. they recommend exhausting that option before raising or lowering the L brackets.

i've also had a reese dual cam and it's much more difficult to get dialed in but after it's dialed in, I think i preferred it to the equalizer; however, both do a good job of weight distribution and sway control. i also think the equalizer is a little noisier... some people put grease or oil on the bars where the meet the l brackets but equalizer says not to do this because the sway control is produced by the friction of the bars on the L brackets

That was always my biggest peeve with friction based WDH setups. I came from the Reese dual-cam and that system was so noisy that it sounded like the trailer frame was breaking in half every time you turn where the friction based sway cams slip on the bars.

Couldn't stand it.

lol... it's not only annoying to me, it's hard to unwire myself from thinking a sound like that means something bad... every spring when we start camping again, I have to remind myself that those are supposed to make noise like that
