Cobra - Many thanks. I've already pulled out of one deal for a heavier RV (the Freedom Express) and had to fight to get my deposit back. You need to be careful when you start hauling around 3 tons of trailer.

Smurfs - Ya, I've already stopped to look at F250s. But my current ride, that 2013 with the FX4 Appearance Package, is mighty sweet.

Picture of the unit is attached, without the WD hitch. Only gets better from here...

Can't speak for the trailer your wife wants, but advertised % hitch dry weights can have little to do with what you end up with on the road.

My last 2 trailers had catalogue % hitch weights of 12-13%, but actual % of 15-16%.

You want a hitch % of 12% or greater for better stability on the road, but 15% or over sure can put a dent in your truck's payload and rear GAW.

With our new trailer, the last time I weighed it we were under the truck's GVWR by a couple of hundred pounds (it's payload is 2050#), but over the rear GAWR by 130#. Since then I've tightened up the WDH and moved weight from the trailer pass-thru to the rear; hopefully that'll fix it.

Anyway, don't be surprised if your hitch weight ends up being a lot higher than you think it should be.
