Then I'd say go ahead and risk your family since you apparently have your own ideas about the issue. Why ask if you have attitude about it.

It seems like even 500 pounds overweight would be a low estimate. After you get the trailer loaded with whatever you're going to put in it (unless it's all behind the axle) there is more weight, then the weight of your hitch, no idea what one of those 5'r mounts weighs but they look like at least 150+lbs of steel or so (I'm sure someone here with one can answer that) + your body weight, all your passengers, your cargo, any accessories that you added to the truck after buying it, that 160pounds of available payload you had left just got blown out of the water.

You're getting into illegal, and dangerous towing territory. You will be far more overweight than you expect once you start adding things to the dry weight. 500lbs over would be a incredibly optimistic number. A lot of people get killed because of these kinds of situations.

Seems as all fingers point to either a superduty or upgrade to a larger tag along. Trailer now is about 6000 lb and 650 on the tongue. The other one I'm looking at it 7200 lb and 745 on the tongue. Not a huge difference going from 28' to 32'. I think I should be okay with that one. It's funny how when there is something you want how you seem to forget about everything else and try to find way around it to make it work.

I know for me when I set out for a camping weekend just in the cab i have ~650lbs with Me, Wife, Kid & 2 Dogs.
In reality if he takes anyone with him he will be overloaded by closer to 800-900lbs.
1727 - Pin Weight
150 - Hitch weight
200 - Driver(just a guess I apologize if you weigh less)
200 - Passenger
