Air Bags or Not?

Air Bags or Not?
I have a 2013 Ford F150 Eco Limited. I pull a 7 X 14 enclosed trailer that weighs about 4,200# loaded. The tongue weight is 320#.
The Limited has 22" wheels so the carry load is only 1,145# and a GVWR of 7,200#.
I don't think I will ever go over the limit.
I am thinking about getting the Firestone 2525 air bags.
Do I really need to do this?

I would say no.
1. You're not hauling or towing much.
2. The air bags will further reduce your available payload. Unless you're suffering from cali lean, what would be the point?

Agreed he might not need them, but it would reduce his payload? Air bag kits only weigh about 30lbs for both bags and the brackets. I don't think he was talking about the kits for lowering his truck.

It will reduce payload because it makes the truck heavier. I did not know that they weigh only about 30 lb though! Certainly insignificant.

You don't need them.
But if you don't like the F150's soft ride you can stiffen the springs with air bags, another leaf, Timbrens, or Roadmaster Active Suspension (RAS).
I did RAS and like it. It raises the rear 1/2 to 1" depending upon the setting, and helps with body roll, wheel hop/skip and axle wrap even without the trailer. And you can install it yourself, just be sure to order the right model # (call them first and check). There are a couple of threads on here talking about it.
You can also add HD shocks if you prefer a crisper ride. Don't know if you can get LT metric tires for those 22" wheels, but if you can, their stiffer side walls will also give a crisper (and a bit noisier) ride.
EDIT: By the way, I would try to roll that ATV forward to get the loaded trailer's tongue weight up to the non-WDH max of 500# (~12%). Less sway that way, and you would still have ~650# payload left.

With the tongue weight at 320# the trailer has no sway at all and and tows great.
The one thing I don't want to do is stiffen the ride.
I am old and like the soft ride. LOL
