5th Wheel Toy Hauler for F-150 Ecoboost?
#61
I have been looking at the KZ line. Missed the 265TH. However after reading more on this site I am not sure my payload of 1527 according to the door sticker on my 2012 4X4 3.5EB Platinum SCREW will handle a 5er Toy Hauler. If the 5er pin weight is 20% of the TH GVWR of 8,800 that would give me a payload of 1,760 which would be over my payload max. I guess to pull a 5er with a 150 you would need HD or something other than a Platinum SCREW Looks like I will be better off with the KZ MXT 303 which has the same GVWR of 8,800 which will give me a tongue weight of 880 to 1056 leaving me with 400-500 pounds for occupants. Add the weight distributing hitch and all should be good.
Two additional questions why does my sticker say GVWR of 7650 and Ford specs say I should have 1900 Payload with the max tow but my yellow door sticker only shows I have payload of 1527. Is it because of my tires. Can't believe my truck weights 6,123 or more than the 1,000 pounds more than Fords listed base curb weight of 5407. Ford Spec document says payload is equal to GVWR minus base curb weight.
Second question:
When you have a trailer hooked up with a weight distributing hitch how would you measure payload on a CAT scale.

My truck came with skid plates installed. Anyone know how much they weight. I doubt I will do any off roading. Wondering if I should take them off at least when towing.

Are they OEM? If so, they weight very little. In fact that aren't exactly what you would call heavy duty anyway. Leave em be
