5th wheel towing reality check 2015 short bed

^^My bad....I meant tunnel
Thing is....last year my 14 F150 XLT 4x4 Boost was a blast to tow with. I pulled my 8k Springdale TT from AZ to San Diego all the way on cruise control (I use cruise for everything)
Now 2 months after my truck got T-Boned, it is not running the same?! The truck over heats pulling 7% grades going up to 7k above sea level? In fact...it was only 82°out. Last year it was 110° going to San Diego....soooo I'm a little confused and disappointed right now.
Ford reflashed the ECM last week to an updated version for 2014. Still had an overheating issue. Threw 3 codes.
1. Overheating
2. Overspeed (60mph towing hot)
3. Cylinder head overheat
WTH is going on. I could honestly choke that broad that clocked my truck. Now I wait to hear from Ford. I pull to San Diego this Sunday.

Man, I'm telling you there is air in the coolant system...it will not purge itself out and will give you hot spots in high air locked spots!

Red.....they've had her for 2 days now, and my tech is focusing on the overheating issue (all hands on deck, as well as directly over the phone with FMC?!)
Cause....their was a shi* list of things that needed immediate attention.
You would think that Ford would completely flush the system....I'll remind them. I also asked for full synthetic 5w -30 oil change. I've got some serious motoring to do!
Now in the back of my mind....I'm worried about pulling those Cali mountains. Last year it was like; 60-65 mph, cruise set, tunes pumping (to wife's modest level-lol), and ohhh yawn 7% grade.
:explicit: Now....probably holding off on the Cougar 5th Wheel - we'll see.

Thinking of buying a 5th wheel. And thinking of going with a turn over ball in the bed.
Anyone had any experiences with this??
Would be in a half ton.Getting ready to do the fire stone airbags but need to decide on the turn over ball. They go hand n hand.

The turn-over ball combined with the B&W Companion fifth wheel hitch works just fine. But if you are thinking on pulling a 5er with a gooseneck hitch, think again. Most 5er manufacturers will void the warranty on the 5er if you try to tow it with a gooseneck hitch.
Plus, almost any 5er is going to overload your F-150's payload capacity. If your F-150 doesn't have the very rare HD Payload package, then count on being overloaded over the GVWR of the F-150.

Isn't this interesting....EXACT same issue here. Just reflashed mine (for the very first time I might add) a couple weeks before pulling through the Rockies and low and behold...overheat. I have never seen a guage budge through these hills before let alone the red alert in the message center. Mine showed overheat and engine overspeed codes but not CHT sensor which I believe is the issue. First visit to shop has given me no satisfaction as they can't "reproduce" the condition (I live 4 hrs from any major grades) and was told there have been no reported issues of new PCM programming calibrations resulting in overheating. I do not believe the truck actually overheated because as soon as I crested the hill (and it did not go into limp mode) and the truck shifted to 4th and quickly to 5th the coolant gauge dropped from pegged to normal in no more than 2 to 3 seconds. Still working on the issue....

It's back at Ford. Told them to check the CAC (Intercooler). I'm like....checking out as many forums as possible. Trying to give Ford a knudge on replacing some parts that must be malfunctioning?!
The stock CAC is plastic, thin walled , and small. When pulling heavy loads up grades the Intercooler can't dissipate the heat efficiently.... thus creating an overheating issue...IMO
Full Race Motorsports built the Freakoboost. They assessed the weaknesses of the Ecoboost.
1. CAC
2. Downpipe
3. 2.5" Exhaust
I want Ford to step up to the plate, recognize that their is an issue.
It's becoming a major issue. Not real happy.
