Default 5th wheel with F150?

I am looking at 5th wheel campers with my wife. I currently have both a 06 F350 as well as a new 2014 F150 Ecoboost. The Camper weighs in at 9300 dry Pin weight is 1685lbs. F350 is a no brainer but since it is a 6.0 I would like the ability to tow it with the F150. Its a screw with a 3.55 rear end. Would airbags be enough to haul this rv around? I think the truck has the power but not sure about the suspension. It looks like it would be totally maxed out. Anyone towing anything this heavy? Let me know what you think

SkiSmuggs has been towing his similar trailer since about 2011.

He talks about it recently here:
http://www.irv2.com/forums/f45/who-i...on-229771.html

IIRC he's over the rear GAWR by about 500# and is currently looking at SuperDutys.

Even though he's got the suspension and tire upgrades to handle it, and the EcoB to tug it, I personally would never overload my rear axle that much if I were planning to drive it a lot. A few times a year for a few hundred miles maybe ... (Had a bad experience with an overloaded rear axle in my youth).

I have the 2014 F150 Ecoboost Crewcab and tow the Rockwood 8289ws with no issues.

My dry weight is 7900 lbs and pin weight of 1410. Loaded, it is 9600 lbs and pin of about 1700. I also have Max Tow with a payload of 1848 and I am more than 500 lbs over the rear GAWR. Unless you have the HD payload package, you are going to be way over the limits for payload, like close to 1000 lbs over when loaded. Even I wouldn't do it.

That's impressive. The pin weight must be near 1500#. I'm curious about your rear axle load. With a 780# tongue weight, my rear axle is weighted to 3800# with a 3850# rating. Mine is nearly maxed out.

Yea, that it a heavy rascal for a non-Max Tow/HD F150. Mine is right at the limits...

You can see in my signature what I have and what I pull. With options on our trailer IIRC it's #8760. +400# more then advertised weight. Pin weight is right at 1600# (rear kitchen helps). Loaded were pushing 10K. My available payload is 2162#.

For what your looking at I would go with a Super Duty. I'm not real impressed with the 6.2 in the SD but that's the only way you can get more payload. I don't want a diesel at this time.
