At least a tractor on a trailer won't catch the wind like a travel trailer. Don't get in a hurry and you will be fine.

So not in any way am I questioning any of yall on here as you all have used these trucks for everything......with that being said......why are the dealer and the factory customer service guy I talked to telling me my truck is rated at 9700k# when with the gears I have it's only rated at 7700k# for towing?

Thanks yall for everything. It's been a huge help and worry off my mind.

Just google 2014 Ford RV and towing guide. The numbers are all there.

Not sure why unless the numbers in the guide are wrong, which would make us all very happy. Even at 7700 you should still be ok right at max or a hair over but within reason. Take your time position the load right and use a good hitch. I tow with my very similar weight truck(super cab but longer bed) with a 7500lb and sometimes a bit more gn trailer in those very same hills and it does a fine job. You won't be holding up traffic just tow it and let the truck do its job. I lock out 6th in the hills but other than that just use tow haul and go

How do I lock out 6th gear? I have a Reese pro weight distribution hitch that is being used on a 10k# rated flatbed trailer.

do you have a column or console shifter. On my console shifter it has a + and - button that allow you to select the highest possible gear.

I have a column shifter and I know what your talking about. What does that do for me? Forgive my ignorance on the subject. Just had my trailer brake controller put in yesterday so I should be good now. I'll take pics and post them fully weighted down before I get on the road. Thanks again gents.

2014 KR. I have the RCI full skid pack on my truck and it's bad ***. So you know. 10g steel is solid and all the plates were super easy to put on. I recommend a lift though. It would have been easier if I had a lift.

Push the tow haul button on your shifter and click the minus button on there one time and you will see only gears up to 5 lit up,click twice and only up to 4 and so on. It will shift normally up to the gear you have set as the top gear.
