Uhh...maybe you should check the name of the forum you're on.

I had a 5.3 in my Sierra and my F150 out pulls it by a mile. Just sayin...

The 5.3 is an outdated motor. It is outclassed these days. Back in the 90s, it held its own but not today, sorry. You had no issues, good for you but having now issues doesn't mean it doesn't come in last place.

I won't disagree. I don't know why GM destroked the 5.7 unless it was for gas mileage issues. Interestingly enough, the 5.3 GM has a slightly higher payload capacity than the F150 as well.

Thought this was an F150 forum.....

Anyway, spoke with a local tech here at my ford dealer. His exact words were "the 355 gets better fuel mileage and that's it".

A 3.73 will pull harder and is better for towing a heavy load over 3.55 rear end. Yes both will do the job and you can pound in a nail with pair of plyers but a hammer will do the job better. Using the right tool for the job is the smart thing to do. But yes, both tools get the same result.

Well, seeing that I have both a Silverado and F150, I'm comparing specs between them. My 09 5.3 Silverado has about 150# more cargo capacity than my ECO F150. Both have equal tow ratings even though the Silverado has less torque and HP

Outdated? Your little new 5.0 is just now starting to make the power a 5.3 has been making for 20 years!

I know this is a ford forum so I won't win the argument around here but fact is I will putmy 5.3 against you ford any day in any situation and promise it will keep up with and outshine your "state of the art" ford crap. Then after that if you do outshine me in anything we can match up your new junk vs. My "01 6.0 in the denali. Just because the ls series is 20+ years old doesn't mean it is out dated! It still destroys everything ford has came out with till the new 5.0. The 5.0 has finally just started to leveled the playing field sligtly.

The numbers are better on the 5 year old truck and it will still walk all over the ECO in every apect. Possibly event empty fuel economy but that is the only to my Chace the ECO has.

You must be on the Mary Jane. The 5.4 even out towed the 5.3. And back to the topic here, for a na motor the gears do help with towing with less than a mpg diff in real world.

A 5.3 walking all over an Eco, roflmao.
