2016 F150, Interior lights on trailer only work while the ignition is on.

My trailer does have an onboard battery for the brakes. Do you think I could tap into that? Then when the truck is running it is charging it and if I would need the lights when it isn't attached I would still have juice to run the lights when needed. I rarely need that, and when I do it is for just a short time. Obviously I don't want to mess with the integrity of the trailer brakes, but since they are LED's and I wouldn't be using them much. What do you guys think?

you have a breakaway battery...it'll pwr lights for alitte while... the truck charging system will charge it... but a better battery and a change to the charging system will work better...
