I've reported my issues to transport canada as it is a safety hazard. I would advise that anyone having this issue do the same as those guys can force a recall if enough complaints come in...

Not sure what would be a similar agency in the US to report too. I'll have to look into it.

Well guys, I forced the dealer to reprogram my PCM and brake controller today even though there was no update. They reinstalled the existing program and voila!! I have working trailer brakes!!!
So there definitely is a factory defect!!

Just wondering how your truck is doing with the new programming. The dealer called me and got in the long time back ordered part so it's being repaired as I write this.

My trailer brake has been perfect ever since. They don't have adequate output for a big trailer so I still have to use the hand lever on big hills but otherwise it's ok. The 2016s have updated software so that they can choose low, medium or high output on the exact same brake controller so I'm trying to convince Ford to give me the update...their research dept is looking into it...

Just an update. I have put a couple hundred miles on the new towing program. Of course its working fine right now but time will tell. I have a 5K mile towing trip in two weeks. Hopefully they have corrected the problem and I can have a safe comfortable trip.
