Default 2015 F150 Trailer Brake Controller - No Gain Setting

First post here, I did a ton of searching but couldn't find my scenario in any of the other threads.

Long story short...I have a 2015 F150 XTR SuperCrew 5.0L.

I had the tow package installed when I bought it (no max tow). I bought the TBC in June 2016 (the newer version) from the dealer and installed it (not hard at all). I then brought it to the dealer and they flashed it ($60+tx).

Didn't get around to testing it until today and had an issue. I can get trailer connected no issues at all, lights all work but cannot get the gain bar meter to come up when I use the TBC. From reading the manual it would appear that I should be able to control gain as soon as the trailer is connected by hitting the +/- keys on thr TBC?

Pulled the dash back apart and confirmed the connection to the TBC was ok, even unplugged and plugged back in and confirmed properly connected. Still having the same issue.

Thoughts? My first instinct is that the dealership didn't flash it properly.

Any other theory's and insight would be much appreciated.

I know with my 16 gain is set with a low/med /high setting as I enter trailer details and only works with trailers with brakes??? maybe your brake wire isn't reading in the truck?? thinks its under 3500lbs/no brakes..

The problem I have is I can't even get the gain meter to come up on the dash on the heads up display. I set up all the trailer details and the selected the brakes and everything and it is a big trailer 28 feet almost 6,000 pounds and does have electric brakes.

When I read the manual it clearly states that I should be able to adjust the gain in the park position while the trailer is connected without having to drive down the road to start adjusting.

I may be wrong in reading this though.

Do you have a charged battery connected to the trailer, your trailer brakes won't work without one. So TBC won't work either.

Well I have solved my problem! Took my truck to the dealership today (have a good working relationship with them) and they got one of their more senior techs invloved and solved the problem in 3 minutes. What I was told is that when you get the flash done to enable the TBC unit there are two steps. Step #1 being getting the computer to enable TBC and Step #2 being the step that enables the gain control to work. The dealer told me that they have fixed this problem a number of times and confirmed the first tech that did the flash was not aware of the second step. No charge for the work...and had me in and out in 5 minutes.

Needless to say works like a charm now, and I thought I should relay what the issue was!

Thanks all above who replied to my thread trying to help!
