Default 2015 F150 trailer brake ?

today I towed my car hauler that has electric brakes. My truck is a 502A Screw, 5.0, tow pkg, tow mirrors....

The cluster recognizes that I have a trailer hooked up, but I had no trailer brakes. Now, my truck DOES NOT have the manual brake controller, its supposed to be managed through the cluster, but it never registered the gain or any controls to adjust the electric brakes.

am I doing something wrong? I read the owners manual and verified all of the fuses are in.

help please

News to me that you don't need the integrated brake controller.

You can't control the trailer brakes without a brake controller.
But, interesting, I didn't realize that the cluster recognized a trailer without it.

Easy enough to add in a Ford OEM part, I hear.
The Built-in Ford one is far superior to the other add-ons, at least they were for the 2011-2014s
Have heard of some issues with the 2015s ...

Remember that you will need to have the dealer go into the computer system and activate the break controller so that your truck will know that one has been installed. Not a big deal, but some dealers charge for this and others don't.

Hope this helps.

My 2015 has a the slider from the factory. FYI it did not work when I first got it. I could not set the gains. Ford had to replace the whole brake controller. After that I could adjust the gains without the trailer connected. Before It was fixed my truck would see the trailer connected. It evem told me a brake light was out but it would not engage the brakes.
