Mirrors on....but not yet working. The harnesses are on order and still waiting on one of them.

Michael, you are correct. My XLT originally had power, heated with signal lights and after tonight my dealer tells me that the conversion can't be done.

I now have the AD style tow mirrors on the truck and they don't work at all. The dealer ordered the 22 pin connectors wire harness...took four hours installing it....only got the power mirror feature working...then was told by there Ford support, after not getting it to work, that the conversion can't be done so they took the harness out and put the 8 pin back in and , again, I have mirrors that don't work...at all.

If anyone has an idea or has had this conversion done and working ... please let me know.

My truck is a XLT sport with the 302A package and well optioned.

That was my fear. I have AD mirrors installed. I have the 22 pin wiring, but extend/fold didn't work plug and play. I'm hoping that a simple IDS change will make it work, but its beyond my ability perhaps. I don't even know if you program the door module or the body module or both. I don't have a friendly Ford dealer willing to tinker with IDS nor an indy shop with IDS.

I'm hearing the same thing you guys are saying. Basically they said trade your truck in because it can't be done. My truck has the tow mirrors but they are manual fold and telescoping. I've ordered the switch for my door and mirrors off of ebay and now I wish I wouldn't have. I've got a friend at my local stereo shop that is going to try and help me out with this. Might have to add a separate switch to get them to work but I don't care. As long as we can get them to work that is.

That is something I hadn't considered. However, I haven't given up. I think its doable.

I did manage to pull up a build sheet/ window sticker from a "near" identical XLT to mine with tow mirrors. They were manual fold and extend with all the other options...power, heated, signals, puddle lamps and spot lamps.

With that serial number the dealer pulled the parts numbers and they are installing my mirrors. The mirrors and AC and mine are AD with power fold and extend. I'll be happy with them working at this point.

The harnesses are different part numbers than the ones they bought the first time. Apparently there are meant for the XLT.

I will report further when the job is done and working. They check with Ford and are confident that this conversion will work.

Once the conversion is working, since I have the AD (power fold/extend) mirrors and the switch...I am thinking on hard wiring the power fold/extend pins and see what happens.. We will see since they are just 12V servo motors and I have the wiring diagram.

I don't care if the modules tell the computer the status of the mirrors.

Can you post/send the wiring diagram?

If nothing else, I'd just like to put power on the pins and verify they tele/fold.

So the xlt that you got the sheet from did it have the correct wiring and you just need to add the correct mirrors and switch? My xlt sounds like the one you got the sheet from.
