Default 2015 F150 Supercrew V6 3.5 ecoboost

I am looking at purchasing the 2015 Supercrew with the V6 3.5 ecoboost engine, 6.5 box and the heavy duty towing package. Will this unit tow a 5th wheel RV that weighs about 11000 lbs loaded?
Thanks for any advice you may provide.

It will probably pull the trailer, but you'll be overloaded over the GVWR of the pickup unless you also specify the HD Payload package.

There is no reason not to specify the HD Payload pkg when ordering a 2015 F-150. Before 2015, the HD payload pkg came with weird 17" 7-lug wheels that were almost impossible to replace with something more desirable. But for 2015 , with XLT or Lariat trim when you add the HD Payload pkg, you get ordinary 18" wheels with 18" LT tires.

On Ford.com build&price, choose XLT or Lariat trim, then
SuperCrew body
6½ bed
3.5L EcoBoost engine

Then notice that in packages, HD Payload is an option. Choose HD Payload and that forces max tow as another option. Then add whatever other options and packagers you want, but be certain you don't choose anything that changes your rear axle ratio from 3.73 e-locker.

Note that trailer tow mirrors are now a stand-along option, no longer part of the max tow pkg. So be sure you order the tow mirrors. With Lariat trim, the tow mirrors are power fold and power telescope. Nice!

^^^ Good advice. That would be an awesome towing truck spec.

Not sure how "ordinary" those 6 lug HD wheels are. I would expect them to at least have higher weight/load ratings than the regular wheels.

And if you did replace them, I would be sure the replacements had equivalent or better weight ratings.

Anyway, am I the only one who liked the look of the 2011-2014 7 lug wheels?

EDIT: the 2015 HD Payload option is "late availability", meaning they will not start making them until the Kansas City plant gets up and running in a month or two.

Just one more thing: look carefully at the loaded pin weight of that fifth wheel and compare it to the payload of any truck you are interested in.

Some 5ers carry up to 25% of their weight on the pin. The more recent "half-ton towable" 5ers are dropping that down to 15%. Still, that would mean a 10,000# 5er could easily put 1500#, but maybe as much as 2500# on your truck. Even for the F150 HD Payload, 2500# would be pushing it.

7-lug. Not the only one. I've got '99 F250Ld with 7-lug. Wanted my '14 to be 7-lug but couldn't configure it. I'm fine with the looks. Didn't want long bed or crew cab.

Yes that bugs me too. Like my SCab with 6.5' bed, but can't get it in a HD Payload. Will probably be forced into the longer SCrew with 6.5" bed when the time comes ...

I like them fine. But you and I are old codgers that don't desire to replace the tires with 35s or bigger, which requires wider wheels. Younger guys want the big tires and wheels, but wider wheels are not available (that I can find) to fit a 7-lug hub.

I guess I must be a grumpy old bugger like smokeywren as I like my 7 lug feet on my 2012 HD. Like then just fine. I have NO intention of 'pimping' them out or whatever the lost youth of today call it... My truck was built to haul and that is what is used for.

BTW, that truck the smokeywren helped you spec out via the online tool would be a GREAT platform to haul with. At 11K though that is a MOUTHFUL and I wouldn't attempt it, even in a nice build like that.
