2014 Regular tow package - aux trans cooler?
I bought a 2014 F150 Supercab STX 4WD with 5.0L and 3.55 locking diff about a week ago. It has the regular tow package, not the Max tow. Has the receiver hitch and the 7 and 4 pin connectors at the back, and the wire harness in the glove compartment to hook up a brake controller. Rated to tow 7800 lbs, and my payload is 1680 lbs (from memory, not sure if that is exact, but very close).
I will be pulling a LivinLite Bearcat 7x20 toy hauler which weighs 3800 dry (with the installed options) and has a max GVWR of 7000 lbs. I'll be carrying two dual sport motorcycles in it that weigh just under 700 lbs for both of them. Allowing another 1000 lbs for water, food, gear, etc, and I should be at about 5500 lbs, well within the capabilities of the truck. Just my wife and I in the truck, so plenty of payload.
I know I need a brake controller and a good weight distributing / sway control hitch.
What I'm not sure about is whether or not I need an auxiliary transmission cooler. Does the regular tow package come with one? If so, is it good enough for my load?

X2. You should be fine with your existing cooler. If ever in doubt (or if you ever see any high trans. temps) it would be easy to upgrade at any time.

The F150 is set up to tow . Has electric fans which is nice for towing. I don't think you'll need an external tranny cooler, it's so efficient and the shift points are spot on. You can always throw a tune on it and adjust your shift points as well as fan temp start up.

There is only one external transmission cooler for the 2009-14 trucks. It's the same for regular tow or max tow. Fluid travels through the radiator in all trucks non-tow, regular tow or max tow as well.

Max tow adds:
... tow mirrors, which were not available otherwise for 2011-2014 models. (Tow mirrors are now optional for 2015 models without the max tow pkg.)
... 500 pounds additional payload capacity, which is not available otherwise.
... integrated trailer brake controller (ITBC), which is optional with the regular tow pkg and you can buy it from the parts department and have it installed
So you cannot increase the GVWR and payload capacity of your F-150,
but you can install the ITBC. You need the tow mirrors, which you can order from:

Those are the ones I put on my 2012 Lariat. Ignore the caveat that they must be dealer installed. Any idiot can install them after you find the screw in the armrest.
