Default 2013 5.0L fifth wheel towing ???

Just a little curious as to what you folks think about towing a 10300LBS dry weight with cargo capacity spec of 2700lbs. It has a fifth wheel pin weight of 1980lbs. I will towing with my 2013 F150 with 5.0L, 6'5" box with airbags. Think it will be too hard on truck. I tow stuff everyday so not worried about the whole "new to towing thing". Let me know what you guys think. I found a great deal on a trailer and want to know if I should pull the trigger on buying it. Thanks again

I'm pretty sure that's over the Ford weight recommendation.

You will be way over ford recommended ratings. If your looking at a camper that size get a super duty. Otherwise keep looking around for a lighter trailer.

"some" packages have up to 3100 pd payload capacity but that is bare bones with an 8 foot bed. i bet your around 1500ish but that's a guess. check your tire pressure door sticker, it will tell you your maximum cargo/payload capacity

The yellow sticker inside your drivers door has the payload rating. I'm pretty sure it isn't enough to cover your 5th wheel.

10,300 +2700 cargo. way over tow rating for even a max tow EB.

1980lb pin weight (dry) + hitch + passengers + etc = way over payload capacity.

If you do it, do me a favor and stay out of New England...I dont want you on the roads anywhere near me or my family...(heck, stay out of New Brunswick too, my wife has family there)

Max tow is around 9500 lbs with 3.73 and the 5.0. Over tow capacity, but not really the important aspect.

This part is, but he might be ok if he has HD package.

Do we really have to be this dramatic? Even with a 15,000 lb 5th wheel, he is still a safer driver than the thousands of drunks on the roads every night. Just give him the facts and move on.

I also heard they are giving away free Playoff tickets to anyone who drives through New Brunswick with trailers over 10,000 lbs. Only Half-ton trucks and below can qualify.

I do not think that is too dramatic. I don't want to see this coming around the corner in the mountains. This is so far out of sight I laughed out loud. May be a joke, I hope.

Hey raisin, that was not a joke. I would think that some weekender that hauls around a 8000lbs trailer with a 3/4 or 1 ton is a lot more unsafe behind the wheel then someone with experience .

All I was asking for were thoughts on the set up. If you didn't like the sound of it, a simple " I don't think that's a good idea" would have been great to hear. I don't end to be talked to like a little kid. I don't care about the few extra pounds a Eco boost can haul, from what I always taught was it's not how you haul something, it's how you can stop it.
